About the instructors
Angelica Hesse owns and runs Yellow Pants Studio. She began social dancing at the age of 10 — begging her mother to drive her to contra dances! When she discovered swing dancing 10+ years ago, it transformed her life. Her emphasis was always on the social aspects of dancing. She believes that partner dancing is a blend of creative, social, and sensual experiences. In 2002 Angelica began enthusiastically teaching lindy hop, encouraging students to find the feeling of the dance in their own bodies and in relation to their partners. Angelica now lives and works in Portland, Oregon where she dances lindy hop, blues and argentine tango.
Jesse & Ellie Hanus Sisters Jesse and Ellie Hanus began dancing in 2003, starting with Ballroom and then moving smoothly into Lindy Hop. Their love of expressing themselves to jazz and blues music has kept them interested ever since. They are leaders of the local performance group The Atomic Lindy Machine and have performed for Lindy Hop legends such as Frankie Manning and Dawn Hampton. Attending dance events and workshops around the US and Canada, they are passionate about spreading their love of dance to anyone willing to learn.
